Facebook Post Recommendations

Here are some restaurant suggestions that were taken from Facebook group posts over the years.

Biaggi‘s in Briargate. They have a separate room for 17 people. It was perfect for us.

We ate at Saltgrass. We did not have a reservation, but walked right in and got a table no problem. It surprisingly did not get that busy while we were there.

Marigolds was great for our commissioning dinner

We had ours catered from Famous Dave’s at 5:30 pm at our rental home and it was great! Plenty of food. It’s a long and spectacular day!

Highly recommend Picnic Basket/Buffalo Gals for any catering. They did a tremendous job.

Yep, we used Picnic Basket for a party after the Grad ceremony. Delicious food! But give yourself a few hours to get back to your party location because it’s not a fast process leaving the stadium, especially if you want pictures afterward too.

We also reserved seating for 25 at the Colorado Mtn Brewery Company for a dinner party after the Commissioning ceremony. Our ceremony was at 4:00 and we made the reservation for 7:00. They were very helpful too. My suggestion is stay in good contact with any of the people and venues you use. Do to being diligent throughout the process we thwarted some problems b/c of some “misunderstandings and last minute changes” at each of our restaurants/hotel/caterers.

It’s not fancy, but Pueblo Viejo is our favorite.

My DS loves lemongrass bistro for Vietnamese amazingness 😉

Elephant Bar is pretty good. You can get a nice vegetarian entree

The Sunbird has the best view of the city and is very nice at night. If you like Mexican food, there is a 24-hr dive that has awesome cheap plentiful food that your cadets will go to time and time again. It’s called Viva El Taco Mexican Food at 5945 Academy Blvd N, Colorado Springs, CO 80918. We’ve also eaten at Shuga’s downtown. It was very good.

Mellow Mushroom for pizza night is a must!

I’ve heard King Chef Diner is an awesome for breakfast.

When visiting this past May, my cadet sent his brother and me to Paris Crepes on N Tejon in downtown COS. It was very good. Big selection of crepes as well as other items (salads, for instance).

Realized what was missing…sushi! We found a great tiny place on I-day and revisited it on PW last year…. Kohnami at 7673 N Union Blvd. Very good!! I am adding it to the list. Also we got BBQ etc at Southern Hospitality on Bass Pro Rd for Thurs night PW picnic-ing in Arnold Hall last year. It was good and is pretty close to the North gate.

Someone asked for good Mexican…Salsa Brava on Briargate Parkway (owned by the same people as Over Easy and Sonterra Grill which is on Tejon downtown) and Hacienda Colorado on Nevada is good.

Marco’s Pizza downtown. Small place but GREAT pizza.
It’s at 12 Tejon St.

There is a cafe that has the best breakfast ever. Freshly squeezed OJ.

 Black Bear Diner.

The Peppertree. Great steaks.

There’s a nice little breakfast and lunch cafe next to the Hyatt House on Delmonico. Good food, generous portions, not expensive. And we always saw cops eating there, which is ALWAYS a good sign!

The Omelet Parlour is awesome for breakfast as well as the Egg and I. We also love Rudy’s BBQ.

Try Mod Pizza

MacKenzies Chophouse was awesome!!! $$ but excellent.

Denver Biscuit Company.

We love Thunder and Buttons

MacKenzie’s Chop House (pricey as noted above, best wine list we’ve found) and Monica’s Taco Shop (total dive, fabulous food!!). Mangia!!

We liked the Odyssey Gastropub

We love Ted’s Montana Grill…the bison burger is amazing!!!

My favs (local). The Famous, Mackenzies for steaks, The Skirted Heifer for burgers, Salsa Brava or Amanda’s Fonda in old Colorado City for Mexican, Roman Villa for Italian, Kings Chef Diner for breakfast.

Taste of Jerusalem in Manitou Springs.

Tuscanos is wonderful. A bit pricey, but worth it!

The Mellow Mushroom (eclectic pizza) in Denver and Amandas Fonda (Mexican) right at the south gate. We used Amanda’s Fonda for dinner right after the commissioning ceremony they have a back patio that can be used for private parties they were very accommodating.

‪ I stayed at the Doubletree Hotel on Cheyenne Mountain Blvd and had my son’s Graduation Dinner catered there. It was awesome. My guest said the food was excellent.

‪ We reserved a room at Biaggi’s for a post grad lunch (2016). Although we had rented a house, it was a perfect time to relax and let someone else do the work. Also, we had travelled to the Springs a month prior to graduation to tie up loose ends regarding graduation. Had a tasting at Biaggi’s and several other restaurants from which we catered, and drew up maps.

‪Bird dog BBQ !! Off Garden of the Gods Road!! Can feed 6 people Family Meal for about 40$ and if you pay cash they give you discount!!! Food fabulous and had leftovers!!

‪ Eidelweiss – wonderful German food.

‪ For a group of 20 or under, Springs Orleans in downtown Colorado Springs. EXCELLENT service, military discount, and wonderful ambiance!

‪ Eidelweiss was wonderful. Jose Muldoon’s downtown was good with a great atmosphere. Black Bear Diner is a favorite for breakfast food.

‪ Edelweiss – been there twice for PW. Authentic German food and experience.

‪ We celebrated last night after graduation at La Bella Vita Ristorante. We called about 4 weeks ahead and booked a reservation. It was our first time there and we loved it! Every single thing from the bread, the appetizers, our meals were delicious!

We did Eidelweiss after commissioning and Tucono’s after graduation! All of the family loved the food and experiences!!

‪ We went to the reception at Mitches. Very classy and convenient after commissioning.

‪ We had our event catered by Broken Bones Barbeque.. Best food I’ve had in a long time. They delivered & set up, at the exact moment they said they would arrive. Good prices too! Randy the owner was awesome to deal with! Happy Planning!

‪ We had Carrabbas cater after graduation. Delicious delivered and gluten free for my sister.

‪ We used Buffalo Gals Catering but we had our party the night before commissioning. For commissioning we went to Mitch’s and it was so relaxing. You don’t know how long out-processing is going to take so after graduation we had a fun later afternoon at O’Malleys in Palmer Lake. Very casual. We arrived a full week before and everyone was beat!

‪ We went to Mitchell Hall Reception. Very classy and nice and convenient. Very heavy hors d’oeuvres like shrimp and prime rib. As a bonus the Thunderbird pilots hung out there and mingled with the crowd.

‪ We had our commissioning dinner at Marigolds (yummy but they were packed so it took 3 hours). Our party was catered by Buffalo Gals/Picnic Basket. They did a great job and the food was very good.

‪ After commissioning and graduation, we were all ready to return to our rented house… for a quiet, and relaxing dinner. We had heard great things about Rocky Mountain BBQ, and decided to finally give it a try. BEST BBQ ever.

‪Post commissioning we went to the formal reception at Mitch’s. Would definitely recommend that! Post graduation we went to Salsa Brava off of Briargate. We had a group of 30 and were 30 minutes early (I did call ahead) and they accommodated our group, had happy hour pricing, was close, the food was good. It really was a great experience (and easy)!

‪ Colorado mountain brewery after commissioning, Famous Dave’s catered and delivered to our rental house. (Very reasonably priced for 20 people)

‪ We did Rudy’s BBQ as a meet and greet on the first night our crew was all there (Sunday) and it was great. We had our graduation party catered by Picnic Basket and they were awesome! I highly recommend them. Many different options from appetizer type to full meals and they set up and clean up. Wonderful!

‪ BJ’s brew house in Colorado Springs- awesome- we had a party of 15 and they did a great job. I made a reservation just the week prior.

We had 15 people fly in on Monday to join 9 of us already and we ate at Ducas pizza on Voyager. That was fabulous because you all order and pay separately. Most people’s arrivals were staggered and they didn’t seem to hate the North Jerseyans taking over their small place.

‪ We also BBQ’d after graduation. Needed some down time after all of the excitement

We ate at Edelweiss following commissioning and at the Steakhouse at Flying Horse after graduation. Both were excellent.

Texas Roadhouse south of Garden of the Gods
