Class of 2019 Ring Dance

Class of 2019 Ring Dance and Dining Out

Tomorrow, May 18, 2018, marks our cadets’ next milestone, Ring Dance. Three years ago, this milestone seemed eons away, but here we are, ready to cheer on our rising seniors.

At the Dining Out, they will receive their class ring and unveil the class crest. Each class designs its own ring and crest. One side of the ring bears the Academy crest, while the other side bears the class crest, which always includes elements from the Class of 1959’s crest: the class number, the class year, the Polaris star and the eagle. The United States Air Force Academy is the only service academy to have had class rings for every class since its founding. Air Force Academy rings are also unique because they are made with white gold, instead of the yellow gold used at other service academies.  The class painting is usually revealed at this event.  This year, painter Rick Broome, created a painting for their Exemplar and is finishing the official class painting that will be unveiled soon.

This years theme is: A Starry Night. Details and symbols from their time at the Academy will be elegantly brought together for a beautiful evening where the highlight will be receiving their class ring.

Your Spirit Mission’s purpose is to commemorate the Milestone events in the lives of the class of 2019. Stay tuned tomorrow evening as we unveil our Ring Dance and Dining Out web page.  There you will find information about the history of the event, the full program, the class crest with the explanation of all of the elements, and a photo gallery that we will add to throughout the night!  Click the Milestone tab tomorrow night to get the link!
